Questions words 

Los “questions words” son las palabras que se utilizan para preguntar. También se les llama “interrogatives” [interogativs]. Esto es lo que hemos dicho antes de este tema. En ese artículo llamamos a los interrogativos “wh-questions”. Pero no están todos. Aquí tenemos una lista mucho más exhaustiva:

Who [hu] Quién/ a quién	- Who is that man? ¿Quién es ése hombre?
Whom [hum]Quién/ a quién (más formal)	- Whom are you calling? ¿A quién llamas?
How [hau] Cómo	- How do you say it? - ¿Cómo lo dices?
Whose [hus]De quién	- Whose car is this? - ¿De quién es este coche?
How many ?[hau meni]Cuántos/Cuántos.Para sustantivos contables.	- How many houses do you have? ¿Cuántas casas tienes?
How much? [hau mach] Cuánto/ Cuánta. Para sustantivos incontables.	- How much time do you need? - ¿Cuánto tiempo necesitas?
What time [uat taim] ¿A qué hora?	- What time is it? - ¿Qué hora es?
How far [hau far] ¿ A qué distancia...?	- How far is the restaurant from here? ¿A qué distancia está el restaurante desde aquí?
How long does it take? [hau long dasIt teik?] ¿Cuánto tiempo se tarda?	How long does it take to go to London? ¿Cuánto tiempo se tarda en ir a Londres?
How old is ?¿Cuántos años ?Fíjate como la traducción literal es “¿Cuánto de viejo es ..?”	How old is your father? ¿Qué edad tiene tu padre?
What sort of [uat sortof ] ¿Qué clase/tipo de..?	What sort of food is this? ¿Qué tipo de comida es esta?
What kind of? [uat kaindof] ¿Que clase/tipo..?	What kind of music do you like? ¿Qué clase de música te gusta?
What happens ?[uat hapns] ¿Qué ocurre? What is happening ? ¿Qué está ocurriendo? What happened? ¿Qué ocurrió?	What happenshere? ¿Qué ocurre aquí?
What is the matter?[uat Is demater] ¿Qué ocurre? ¿Cuál es el problema? Tiene cierta connotación negativa.	What is the matternow? ¿Cuál es ahora el problema?
What is wrong?[uat Is rong] ¿Qué ocurre? Cuando es seguro que ha ocurrido algo malo.	What is wrong with you? ¿Qué te ocurre? (Cuándo sabemos que a la persona le ocurre algo malo.
What is he/she like? [uat Ishilaik] ¿Cómo es el/ella...?	What is your mother like? ¿Cómo es tu madre?En el sentido de apariencia y como persona.
